Episode 1 of Photogromer Live: PolarPro

On Ep. 1 of Photogromer Live we featured a few accessories from PolarPro who specalizes in GoPro / Drone filters as well as other accessories that I found useful.

Venture Pack - $49.99

Venture Pack

Three filters, all useful in their own way. I found that Polarizing filters are best used on sunny days and will help make those blue skies pop while eliminating glare. It's an easy and inexpensive way of adding some vivid spunk to your photos or videos. Since GoPro doesn't allow us to manually change things like shutter speed and aperture in Photo Mode, we have to trick the camera into doing what we want it to do. The ND filters will force the GoPro to slow down the shutter speed to let in more light since it's cutting the amount of light by 3-stops. Since we can control the ISO max on the GoPro, if you throw on the ND filter you can get some motion blur with a slower shutter speed. The ND8 filter is the best option for my famous "roller" shots. The Graduated ND filter is sweet for sunsets. It does the same thing as the ND filter but the effect fades out from top to bottom. So think about a sunset, how bright it is in comparison to the land at the bottom of your frame. The Graduated ND filter will bring down the brightness of the sky while leaving your landscape properly exposed. This eliminates over exposed skies and under exposed subjects. A awesome filter to have in your kit!

For $50 you can't really beat these filters. If I had to choose one it would be the Polarizing filter, however the ND filter is a must have if you want to do daytime rolling shots with a GoPro.

StrapMount - $29.99

StrapMount

So awesome to see a quick release plate made specifically for the GoPro. Perfect for having your GoPro secured during a ride but able to access it quickly when needed. Pair this with the Yukon Grip below and you have a solid way to secure your GoPro during rides. Highly, highly recommended!

As you can see on my backpack strap, I have the StrapMount mounted with my GoPro Hero 5 mounted on the Yukon Grip and attached to the StrapMount.

Yukon Grip - $29.99

Yukon Grip / Pole

The best part of this thing is it can clip into the strap mount listed above. That's pretty amazing considering 90% of us ride with backpacks. It allows you to keep the grip at your ready for rolling shots or if you're just walking around a bike meet. I even tested it while riding and the footage was pretty solid if you're in a pinch and want to get some on board footage without mounting to a helmet or bike.
